Plus she was on my new favorite USA show about lawyers, Suits. As good an actress she is, her style is better. She is preppy mixed with glamour which is always my goal. Check out these looks.

I have to say the looks at the Golden Globes this year were all around not great. There were a few standouts but nothing to write home about like last year. I think my favorite was Amy Poehler. Amy is not only absolutely hilarious on Parks & Recreation and deserved 8 Emmys but she always looks perfect at awards shows. Her dress was just exquisite (plus having Will Arnett on your arm doesn't hurt.)
Though there were a few bright spots like Julie Bowen (who looked less strung out than usual) and Dianna Agron who looked stunning in red there were lots of "What made you decided to do this?" Like Zooey Deschanel. She looked like she was wearing a costume in her play. Her poor sister Emily wasn't much better. It was like she picked out a dress from the Dynasty-reject collection. And she ripped it in half. Emma Stone looked lovely but it seemed like she was taking the Twilight trend a little too seriously. Remember your pretty peach dress from last year Emma? It's okay to embrace the light side. And then what the heck was Sarah Michelle Gellar wearing? It had like waves on it and was just a big giant mess.

What is happening?
Here were a few of the ones I liked:
Maria Menounos: I don't love the sequins but I commend her for the bold color choice and she looks great.
Felicity Jones: I just love her.
Jaime King: Don't usually love her stuff but this works.
Emma Stone: Gorgeous and interesting.
Jane Levy: She is swimming in this but I like it.
Love the retro look on Kristen Wiig.
This is a little boring but I think she looks lovely. I like that she kept everything else simple.
She is really sticking with this somber thing but it's a great dress.
Only Charlize could pull this off but she looks stunning.
Have you seen these new like fancy slippers everyone is wearing? SheFinds.com even dared to ask, "Are smoking slippers the new ballet flats?" Like, woah. They look a little bit like TOMs but less annoyingly hipsterish. These are like the most distinguished of impractical footwear. It's like designers just woke up one day and said why haven't we been taking more fashion cues from Hugh Hefner. I am pretty sure bathrobes are next. But what I love about these is they are so preppy but at the same time they make this great kind of feminist/Katharine Hepburn-like statement. Plus so comfy! I just ordered a leopard-print pair and I am sure that will be just the beginning for me.
You can go with the really old, formal ones that make the statement: "I have a butler and I know it."
Or get a little funky and have skulls on them or monograms!!!
I may have to get these green ones next.
Let's take a look at some of the celebs that are in on the trend.
Nikki Hilton is a repeat offender.
As is Olivia Palermo
Alexa Chung but of course
Love this look. She has cats on her shoes!

Yes, now it is 2012 but it is good to reflect on the past. Anyway these were some of my favorite dresses of 2011. But with awards season coming up I am sure there will be a whole new slew of favorites. The above is the awesome Emma Stone looking like perfection in Calvin Klein Collection.
Cate Blanchett in John Galliano. Note: You can only wear this if you are Cate Blanchett.
Brooklyn Decker. As you may have noticed, I really like simple florescent dresses.
